Event Description

PARK(ing) Day comes to NZ on 18 Sept 09. Collaborate to create people-friendly urban spaces.

This event involves
- Sharing resources creatively: Transforming car parking spaces into temporary public parks.
- Giving time: Inviting people to put money in the meter for these spaces.
- Enjoying spaces we inhabit: Encouraging people to be curious, slow down and have fun.

What's YOUR ideal living space?

Would you like more cycle lanes? More walking-friendly developments? Greener spaces that are full of life? Creative spaces for smiling faces? A living city that doesn't harm our life-supporting climate? Create whatever you wish for...

Join this group if you want to be part of organising this event. You can also find out more details in this guide.

Wellington PARK info: There will be 10 parks, all with their own special flavour. Most of these will be in Courtenay Place, between Sweet Mama's Kitchen and the Paramount Theatre. There will be lounges, lawns, djs, a disco...plus many more surprises on site throughout the day. We'll be there 8am until the fun and the puns run out.

There will also be a park on Lambton Quay, outside Country Road or just down the road near Midland Park: The Frocks will knock your socks off. This one is from 1130am to 130ish.

We might also create a 'walking park' - moving some of the sites to Cuba St during the day!

All welcome - they are all public space :)
