Young Professionals - Leading the Change

The crew up at Waiheke island have one of the best waste management systems in the country - it's a locally owned and operated affair which employs 22 staff and brings 1.3 million into the community in wages and services. They also have one of the top diversion rates (~40%) in the country which is double the national target.

Yet the council want to dump this for an Australian company that can't sell its products and wants a handout from taxpayers by extending their wheelie bin program into waiheke island.

The residents don't like this plan.
