Hi Lee
I just did a search on Intersect to find people in Dunedin because
I wanted to invite you to a 350 Climate Action Group's FUN raiser, this coming Friday at the Regent Theatre.

My band - the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra are doing a gig as part of our National Tour, and we want to pack out the Regent Theatre. $5 from each ticket purchased through the '350 Climate Action Group' (not the box office) go straight to funding their important climate action activities.

You can find out more about it here:
http://intersect.ning.com/events/350-climate-actions-funraiser
Hope to see you there! If you can't make it, please let your friends know.

Cheerio!

Hey Leah, thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Sorry for the spelling, my typing SOSSSOOOOBBBAAADD! Yes Nat. Capatalism. Will chec out your link, I don't know of it though. Basically I am producing a concept product and we have to look at two sustainable related subjects for product design. Biomimicry - relating to nature when making stuff or creating a needed service. Nat. Capatalism - realising the true worth/economics to living systems and relating it back to product/service. Hope this helps. Eden

Thats all good. i just did not realise you were talking about volunteer work. I completely understand that that work is just as valuable if not more so in our society:-). Did you know that the estimated value of volunteer work in New Zealand is 8% of GDP! you'd think it might be valued a little more by all once we see figures like this. Sounds great, keep up the good work!

Hi Lee - Good on you for stating your objectives publicly and moving beyond your comfort zone. Interesting ideas on your blog, what is your business model?

Some tricky things that will crop up are when people are on or off the clock, what will be required from each contracted service and how will any misunderstandings may be handled. For all its inadequacies employment law seems to offer the most comprehensive and well understood arrangements for all these issues. Many want a better, more flexible system but few can achieve true balance between time and money. A designer will contract time or agree to complete a project for a fee, but as I gained more experience I understood that contractual agreements were the safest option for both parties, without them my services became devalued as the client dragged out their actions at my expense. On the other side anyone wanting to utilise services of another needs to know what they are getting for their fee.

So I hope this has not put a dampener on your plans, i hope you come back to me with a model that blows all of this out of the water.
