I'm a painter, and semi-employed so have a bit of spare time. I'm really keen to help a good cause and of course more public holidays would mean more time when friends are free to hang out and celebrate together. Glad to have found intersect yeste...

Hi sounds awesome Megan! If forces were joined then the momentum for NZ-LANDDay, with Intersect heading it, could leap frog and purposely lead straight into Matariki, with partnering to relevant networks for Matariki celebration build-up support.....

Awesome idea Megan - I'm sure there are a number of national organisations that would support this concept for a 'Day On'. Also, on Matariki as a public holiday, the Private Member's Bill unfortunately did not gain enough support to pass it's firs...

Fellow intersectors, I have been thinking about New Zealanders and what they need most right now, but also how this group of citizens can inspire the rest of our sleepy little nation. I had an idea about New Zealand Day (which I also hope manages ...

Profile Information

Date of Birth
January 20, 1984
About Me:
Born in Auckland, lived on Waiheke Island from ages 4-10, and have been resident in the Grey Lynn/Ponsonby area ever since (except for studying in Switzerland (16), Palmerston North (18-19) and a brief stint in Invercargill (20)). I have a BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies) under my belt from Massey University (International Business and Enterprise Development majors), to pursue ambitions of creating and contributing to changing the way we view and treat our natural world from within business outward. Other interests include music (listening to and currently working on mastering the bass, and more recently - african drumming), dance (ballet and contemporary), painting and other crafty works at times, yoga, gardening, making clothes, cycling and the weekend socialising and going to gigs...
Areas of interest and expertise
I'm currently with a small family owned business who distribute/create/brand a design-led, strongly eco-product range for NZ and export markets. Given its size there isn't many areas of business I'm not involved in to varying degrees. My key strengths so far would lie in analytical and creative thinking (ideas, problem solving...), relationship forging and maintaining, balancing lots of varied work streams, and being resourceful (wearing lots of different hats, and finding out how to do something unknown and learning as I go!). This is my first job in this area and I'm looking to branch into working with organisations making the transition to being good, and better, and great environmental citizens and champions.

Hey Stephanie,
Check out our Seasonal Celebrations group here on intersect.
Perhaps you'd like to start a discussion on Matariki?
We could share what's happening around the country (I'm based in Wellington) and ideas for something we might like to create together.
Cheers,
Beka
