About Me:
I'm an editor/writer who works at an independent magazine publishers in central Auckland. I currently represent my company on the Magazine Publishers Associations new(ish) sustainability subcommittee.

I suspect I've come relatively late to the 'green' movement so I'm looking forward to learning heaps about anything and everything from the people I meet through Intersect. I'm hoping that this will allow me to argue much more intelligently with my non-eco minded pals than I am currently able to.

I live on a lovely native bush clad section in West Auckland with my husband, having moved here from Wellies for work a couple of years ago. I'm particularly excited about our vege garden which after looking a bit sad over winter... is now starting to look ace! Our compost bin is full to bursting at the moment... so I'm saving up for a worm farm (Santa, take note).
Areas of interest and expertise
I’m most interested in communicating issues surrounding fair-trade and the benefits of living sustainability to a ‘mainstream’ audience. Because my husband is a school teacher, I’m also really keen to work with his school to get the kids reducing their waste, recycling, gardening and eating decent food so perhaps I could liaise with an existing organisation with similar aims to get something in place next year. I’d also like to get more engaged with my local community on eco-minded initiatives.

I love cooking and am really passionate about encouraging others to learn to cook from scratch. At present I’m experimenting with making my own ginger beer and bread and will start making my own cheese in the new year when I have a bit more time. I’m also trying – unsuccessfully - to teach myself how to knit. I hope to soon be a modern-day, but less fraudulent, Martha Stewart.

My ‘expertise’ to date lies primarily in editing customer magazines for corporate clients. This involves working closely with businesses, writing on a diverse range of subjects, creating briefs for writers, photographers and illustrators, managing photo shoots and providing the editorial direction for a publication. I’m confident I could turn these skills to other pursuits too.
