About Me:
Likes : Squirreling around in other people's wardrobes. Hunting out and re-upholstering old furniture. Stroking cats. Meditating. Contemplating. Dancing. Partaking in treats, all sorts and varieties. Traveling the world, and making connections. Standing still. Water fights. Peace-building. Conflict resolution. Meaningful grafitti and a combination of fund/fun-raising activities. Eating dark chocolate in loud noisy chunks. Music, dancing, theatre, tree-climbing, art, music, teaching, yoga, books, cooking, gardening, children, music, music, music. And music again. Being inspired by challenging circumstances. Crossing boundaries and finding connections between people’s differences as well as their similarities. Spiritually-uplifting eco-movements. Deliberate acts of kindness. This human experience; wading through the sticky mud and colourful people and busy bustle and dark shadowy corners and swirling painted moments and starlit magic beaches, struck with flashes of fascination, and indelibly grateful for every moment right here in the very thick of it all.

Buddha is my home-boy.
Areas of interest and expertise
Interests : I manage the Habit project for LKPY, an international peace-building organisation aimed at 'the youth', which was launched in Melbourne, June 2007, to coincide with the Dalai Lama’s world tour. Our definition of youth runs along the same lines as Intersect's - people with a youthful perspective who are passionate about initiating positive change within themselves, their communities, the world at large.

Although the roots of LKPY stem from Tibetan Buddhism, LKPY is not a religious organisation. Instead we focus on providing a safe space for people of all different spiritual, social and cultural backgrounds to come together, and through open discussion of our similarities, and our differences, nurture our shared understanding of how we can implement positive change together.

Habits are a community of groups dotted around the world, which aim to step outside the boundaries of defining a peace movement as something which is purely anti-war, and instead return the focus to the individual – from changing our way of ‘thinking and doing’ to a more serene approach to ourselves, to others and the environment. Through monthly meetings, Habits provide a space for people to slow down, reflect, workshop the way the world works, be inspired by people in their community doing cool stuff, foster the meditative tools for inner peace and encourage deliberate acts of kindness.

The Habit project is centrally administered in Wellington, where it was trialled in March 2008. Currently Habits are launching in 10 cities in 8 different countries.

Surprise!

You’re invited to our last Face-to-Face event for Wellington Intersectors for 2009 on November 24. There will be the usual sharing of ideas and inspirations, but this one is a little bit Christmas flavoured and it’s all about Giving.

There will be surprise gifts, crafty activities, ideas for 'sustainable' gifts and conversations about giving. You can get involved in any way that suits you - even if it's just to meet a few more people and enjoy some tasty treats.

...Pssst...pass it on!
Why not surprise someone from the Wellington Intersectors and post this invite on their profile?

Cheers!

You can find our more details about the event and RSVP here:

Thanks for making ME laugh as I'm currently doing a pre-presentation panic....
No, the worm isn't stuttery and posh but instead is a hermaphrodite (makes sense I guess), sexy and drives a E-type (gull-wing) Jag. She/it lives in a wonderful English castle where she lures school boys into spa pools and does unmentionables. And Hugh Grant is tempted! He, of course, plays the descendent of St George.... it's really worth getting out for a giggle - it's Ken Russell film making at his campest best. The book was written by Bram Stoker who wrote Dracula so it's got some merits.

Hey gorgeous,
Last night I was at Wadestown Library doing a workshop and Rewi from Otari-Wiltons' Bush was talking about Dr Leonard Cockayne a passionate botanist, and one of the founders of the bush reserve- who said "Remarkable is too weak a word..." in his book about & called -New Zealand Plants and Their Story,
I thought that was quite fabulous.

HI Lindsay. Just regarding the Lambton Worm....Have you seen The Lair of the White Worm? (featuring Hugh Grant when he was very sweet)...

Thanks Lindsay, no I didn't make it to the Freeze though that sounded like fun. I made it down in time for the Home showing. Beautifully done but depressing for the pressure we humans continue to put upon the earth. Anyway, it was good to see, and hopefully I'll catch you on further such trips...
best,
Jay
