Intersect

Young Professionals - Leading the Change

Intersect connects people together to foster sustainability. It's supported by a charitable trust - a non-profit organisation - that provides the fertile ground to grow networks between young professionals. Intersect provides a place where people with interests and passions related to sustainability can meet like-minded (and not-so-like-minded!) folks, share ideas, find information and assistance, and become more inspired. Our hope is that we can all become more deeply involved in conversations that matter to us and to take effective actions that make a positive difference in our world.

Who can join Intersect? Our core membership consists of 'young professionals' (including designers, policy analysts, researchers, business people, artists and many more) aged 20-35 years. However we also welcome younger and older members to join and connect. We are also limiting membership of Intersect to people living in Aotearoa New Zealand and ex-pat Kiwis. That's because we're growing our community here and we have had some problems with dubious-looking profiles and content posted from other parts of the globe. If you
don't meet this criteria but you are bursting with enthusiasm to be part of Intersect, simply write a profile that excites us. We're always happy to make exceptions.

We want Intersect to be a place where you can always find interesting, lively and intelligent discussion. We've got five guidelines to keep the spirit of the Intersect community healthy:
  • Intersect is non-partisan: members are welcome to discuss political issues and the positions of our elected representatives, but members will be asked to remove any content that promotes or attacks any political party.
  • We're not in this for profit: all Intersect's crew are doing this for the love of it. Please don't use Intersect to just promote your business - although you are welcome to come and talk to us about supporting our network through advertising!
  • We're all connected: so racism, sexism, religious attacks or homophobia won't be tolerated.
  • Keep it friendly: you can say "bugger" on prime-time TV these days, so we won't be draconian about this, but let's keep it clean folks. Please don't post any images or comments that other users will find offensive or threatening.
  • Keep it legal: please don't post anything that might get us in legal trouble - such as breaches of copyright, or libellous or defamatory statements.
Intersect is a self-organised network. All members can connect together and talk, organise, and advocate to their hearts' content. Please keep in mind though, that all "official Intersect events" need to have the mandate of Intersect's trustees or regional activators.

Thanks for being part of Intersect! You can contact the Intersect Crew (the people who actively support and help to develop this network) at letsintersect@gmail.com - or visit www.intersect.org.nz.
