Bonjour Leanne, :-)

Yes, there is an entry fee of 30$ for the movie, which includes the dinner and a glass of wine (movie trailer and details here). Drop me an email at info@mon-ami.co.nz to confirm you are happy to attend :-).

Merci et a bientot,

Benoit

Salut Ben! Merci pour l'invitation. I'll be there and have invited others. Is there a cost for the film? Leanne

Bonjour Rachel!

It'll probably be a bit short: dinner will start at 6ish, and the movie will be started after (dependant on how fast people want to eat). The movie lasts one hour, so you'll probably miss the most part of it.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,

Ben

Salut Ben, what time will the screening finish? I have a class @ 7.30pm which means I need to leave around 7ish, is it still worth coming or would I miss too much?

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that next Tuesday at 6PM, Mon Ami will be screening Earth Whisperers, a kiwi movie that I discovered myself a little while ago and that I found extremely inspiring. I thought I'd let you know in case you were interested. If you are, more details are available here: http://intersect.ning.com/events/earth-whisperers-movie

Have all a great day,

Ben

Hey, yes and finally we have purpose designed re-usable takeaway coffee cups in Wellington and they are available thanks to Milk Crate Cafe on Ghuznee st. Get on down there and buy your own one, parade it around town and encourage other coffee outlets as well.
If anyone is in journalism please consider rewarding this cause and the photogenic team at Milk Crate with some quality media attention.

Do you want to live in a lovely sunny house, with a garden, in the Aro Valley, with two wonderful intersecting flatmates? If you do, get in touch! I am making the move north at the end of the year and my room needs a fabulous new occupant. If you need a place a little earlier, I may be able to make that happen. Check out the ad in the notices section of Intersect for more info.

On hope:

In the awful moment when someone demands at gunpoint, "Your money or your life," the answer is not supposed to be difficult. And in fact a lot of people are rethinking the money answer, looking behind the cash price to see what it costs us to mine and manufacture, to transport, to burn, to bury. What did it harm on its way here? Could I get it closer to home?
In previous generations we rarely asked about the hidden costs; we put them on layaway. But the bill has come due. Some European countries are calculating the "climate cost" of consumer goods and adding it to the price. We're examining the moralities of possession, inventing renewable technologies, recovering sustainable food systems. We're even warming up to the idea that the wealthy nations have to help the poorer ones, for the sake of a reconstructed world.
Generosity will grind some gears in the machine of Efficiency, but we can retool.
The arc of history is longer than human vision. It bends. We abolished slavery, we granted universal suffrage. We have done hard things before. Each time it took a terrible fight between people who could not imagine changing the rules and those who said, "We already did. We have made the world new." The hardest part will be to convince ourselves of the possibilities and hang on. If we run out of hope at the end of the day, we'll rise in the morning and put it on again with our shoes.
Hope is the only reason we won't burn what's left of the ship and go down with it. If somebody says, "Your money or your life," you can say, "Life." And mean it.
