Get involved in building a people's movement to address the root causes of climate change!

What is a climate camp?

Climate camps have been successfully held in several countries overseas. Each camp event weaves four key themes: education, direct action, sustainable living, and building a movement to effectively tackle climate change by both resisting climate crimes and developing sustainable solutions. The camps are a place for anyone who wants to take action on climate change; for anyone who's fed up with empty government rhetoric and coporate spin; for anyone who's worried that the small steps they're taking aren't enough to match the scale of the problem; and for anyone who's worried about our future and wants to do something about it.

How is it organised?

The way the camps are orgnaised is very community based. You come as regional groups workingby consensus, not an organisation, which is seen as being far more democratic and sustainable. People in the far north, Wellington, Auckland, Taranaki and Christchurch have already gotten involved.

If you're in Wellington and you'd like to get involved in planning the 2009 Camp For Climate Action Aotearoa then please contact wellington.climatecampnz@lists.openplans.org or go to climatecamp.org.nz

Great week and great day at the actions today - thanks everybody!
I've joined here and don't know about the "organizer" bit, but I'm certainly willing to help out with future ones.
cheers,
Jay

There's a filmscreening tonight - sorry for the short notice!

You are warmly invited to attend a film screening tonight
Monday 30th November, 8pm, at the Newtown Community Centre. The films draw inspiration from recent camps in the UK and Australia.

Hope to see you there!

As part of the NZ Youth Delegation going to Copenhagen I'm trying to sort out some way of getting a live/ or quickly uploaded vid's of what's going on over there, not just at the summit but at all the other amazing events going on.
You guys keen to be part of that?

Get out your diary!
The first Climate Camp will be taking place from the 16th-21st of December in Wellington. Woop woop!
If you're keen to help with making this happen in some way, please do. This could be anything from kitchen stuff, infrastructure, workshops, fundraising....

Spread the word!
