Intersect

Young Professionals - Leading the Change

So far, Intersect has hosted a party, put on a Propaganda Extravaganza, helped recruit people for jobs and opportunities, hosted workshops, organised events, created a 'freeze', kept people up to date on sustainability related happenings. Our purpose is to grow and consolidate our membership and to keep people meeting and inspiring better leadership.

We are working on a suite of leadership development offerings, and some more fun and interesting events. But what are you interested in? What are the gaps for you - what do you want to learn more about and what sort of things do you want to do together?

Hi Megan,

Not exactly the answer to your question, but hear is a couple of things:

Thought would let you know about a minor bug on the website I happened to stumble upon. I'm interested in participating in the 'Freeze!' (and possibly a few other events), but the "Click here to RSVP" link at the bottom of the page doesn't seem to work. I've tried it on different computers and web browsers, so guess it might be due to some glitch in the code.

Also an idea: did you think about spreading the word via Facebook, either about the 'Freeze!' in particular or about the Intersect in general?

Take care,
-Tomasz

Hello Tomasz, thank you for the reply.

I am sorry to hear of the error that you have been getting. Unfortunately, this is ning.com's platform and so I don't have any control over the bugs, but you can report the bug here:

In terms of promoting this site (on Facebook etc) I have certainly considered it, but haven't yet had spare time to action it. If you have the time and the know-how, I would be really happy if you could pitch in promoting the site. It would be much appreciated!

Kind regards, Megan

Hi Tomasz
Actually the reason your RSVP didn't work is because I didn't enable the 'RSVP' option on the Freeze event. Rest assured there have been LOTS of RSVPs to me at MrFreeze.NZ@gmail.com though. This is shaping up to be a big event. I look forward to directing an icy gaze at you next week...
Yours,
Mr Freeze

On of the things that I would be interested in..., as a relative new comer to wellington, how do I get active at a local level on issues that I am passionate about. I'm quite knowledgeable and capable of making the changes in my own little corner of the world, but not sure how be involved beyond that.

I've started a discussion in the wellington group with a list of active local groups you could connect with.

Heya Jerad, Come to a choices seminar!
It's all about sharing your skills and reaching your networks and wider community.
Have a look at 'Choices Seminars' under 'Events' here on Intersect for more info.

I want to make the environmental movement more social - so often it's easy to feel like you're the only one working on a problem! And it seems like this is a great forum for doing so.

At Intersect Auckland’s First Tuesday of the Month gathering in February 2009, we held a World Café style discussion process around a number of questions. I facilitated the process and each table (with its specific question) was hosted by a different person as noted below:

•What themes, challenges and opportunities are emerging in the world and how are they compelling you to think, feel and act? (Hosted by Mahara Inglis)
•What projects/events/discussions do you plan to be involved in this year (through Intersect or otherwise)? (Hosted by Carl Chennery)
•How can we collectively create/hold Intersect gatherings? (Hosted by Jo Tunna)
•What inspires, challenges and interests you at the moment? (Hosted by Jasmine Cargill)
•What drives you to do your work in the world and what do you need to fuel you? (Hosted by Jennifer Aschenbrenner)

For more information on World Café as a discussion and learning tool go to theworldcafe.com

In the attached document are the compiled notes from these discussions. We hope by sharing this information others that were not present can learn from the process and engage, and perhaps extend, these conversations.

p.s. If there is a better place on the site to share this information, let me know.

Hi Eden

Rebeka Whale is the person to liaise with about Choices.

I think you would make a great networker. (Especially in your frock - Man, I can't get that image of you out of my head!)

Cheers, Megan
