Event Description

Come Intersect in the Capital! The Wellycats meet on the first Tuesday of every month to connect, kick back, and dive into conversation.

We roughly follow this format:
5:30-6pm: Arriving, meeting, drinking, eating...
6pm-7pm: Table-swapping conversations
7pm+ : Continuing as you please...

This is a relaxing space to have some lively conversations. If there is anything you'd like to talk about, simply add a comment on this page - or bring your questions/curiousities with you on the night.

We hope to Intersect with you there!

What blind faiths do we hold?

We all probably think our views are pretty reasonable, and judge those whose opinions we think aren't so solid. For example, we might look at people questioning anthropgenic climate change and say, "Idiots! All the science supports our argument. They're ignoring the evidence in the hope it'll just go away." But what blind faiths do we have - where the evidence isn't as strong as we'd like it to be but that doesn't stop us arguing as if it was?

Here's a contribution from me:
This is a critical year for action on Climate Change. The clock is ticking to avoid a point of no return, movements around the world are coalescing, and we need to give our elected representatives a strong message - and a strong mandate - to show leadership at Copenhagen in December when a new global climate treaty is negotiated. We also need to turn our personal impacts on the climate around.

A moveMent = Moving people by connecting deeply with what gives them Meaning. So my question is...
- What means most to us (as humans/NZ'ers), and how can we connect with that to move people into action on climate change?
