the Government is holding its public consultation on what emissions reduction targets New Zealand should aim to achieve by 2020. This consulation will inform the policies that NZ will present to the international conference in Copenhagen this December. The Copenhagen meeting will establish a successor to the Kyoto Protocol - ie set the agenda for the world's action!
Given how critically important countries' emissions reduction targets are, public engagement is ESSENTIAL.
And... the ONLY Wellington public meeting is on Monday the 6th of July at 7:30pm in the Oceania room of Te Papa.
Without a significant public presence calling for the government to take serious action on climate change, the likelihood of a weak NZ position is increased.
If you think NZ should take serious action on climate change, you've got to come along to one of the (very few!) public meetings that the government is holding, and make your opinion known!
